1. Hallmark Industries MA0414X-7A
As you might have guessed, this pump is made specifically for owners of deep wells. It comes with a 230V 60Hz motor with a single horsepower. However, the motor’s performance can be compared to many 2HP motors, which is fantastic.
It produces 750 Watts, and on top of that, the motor comes in a stainless-steel shell. It’s excellent for longevity and preventing corrosion.
But that’s not all! There are a few great things to consider. At first, the pump has high-quality sealed ball bearings and a check valve that significantly reduces noises. Unlike many pumps, this model won’t make any troubles in the neighborhood, or at night.
Diffusers and impellers are made of strong, durable materials. It directly improves the unit’s lifespan, and still, it comes with a comprehensive warranty. The motor is UL approved, and with only 14 kilograms, this pump is a powerful, yet portable device.
|Easy installation||The cords are a bit thin|
|Very affordable, compared to similar pumps|
If we neglect the tiny electric cords of this pump, it’s an awesome device with lots of energy. With a 1HP motor, it consumes less electricity and provides amazing power output, similar to much stronger motors.
2. Hallmark Industries MA0343X-4
This model is less powerful than the previous one, but it’s got some great things to offer. It has a ½ HP motor, which works at 110V 60Hz. With 25 GPM flow rate, it is ideal for 5” wells or even bigger ones.
Another nice thing is that the pump doesn’t require an external control box. The parts are built of stainless steel and heavy-duty materials, ideal for long life under heavy circumstances. Even if the motor gets hot, you don’t need to worry – it comes with built-in thermal protection.
The pump has three wires, including the ground wire. Besides, it has a 1.25” NPT discharge, 10’ long electric cord, and comes with the wiring kit. Impellers, diffusers, and intake screens are made of high-quality materials, as well as the motor itself.

This pump is an ideal choice if you are looking for extreme power. It will consume a bit more electricity, but it does the job perfectly. However, powerful units come at a great price, so you should have that in mind, too.
6 Best Hallmark Industries Well Pumps: Buying Tips
These models are the best among all Hallmark Industries pumps. However, if you want to shop on your own, there are a few factors that you should consider. In this section, we will clarify all the things that you need to know before buying one.
Hallmark Industries: an Amazing Company
During almost three decades in business, Hallmark Industries Inc has made some immersive products. Since 1995, they made various AC and DC motors, well pumps, jet pumps, gear reducers, and similar units.
Their household products are among top-rated units around the world. With amazing quality, product availability, and relatively low prices, they quickly became the number one choice in the US.
Besides, Hallmark Industries have an amazing customer support team. If you are not sure what product to buy, their team of engineers will be happy to walk you through product selection and any possible problems.
After testing many of their products, we can conclude only one thing – Hallmark Industries is definitely our favorite choice in the niche.
Hallmark Industries Well Pumps: Features & Benefits
There are a few things that made us consider Hallmark Industries among the big competition. At first, all of their pumps are built of high-quality materials. The materials are strong and sturdy, and yet, not too heavy.
Besides, their models are thoughtfully factory tested. It means that they literally test every single part of a product before assembling it. The pumps they make are simple, which allows for great efficiency and low maintenance. There are no complicated parts, or anything similar, which might get damaged in the long run.
On top of that, we are also quite satisfied with their prices. Many pumps, in the same quality range, usually cost a lot more. Hallmark Industries sells its products at a reasonable price, while at the same time, they have an amazing customer support team.
Performance and Sizing Chart – What do the Numbers Mean?
You might have noticed that the pumps we reviewed have lots of numbers and letters in their names. Yet, it’s not random. Those characters represent the series, which are sorted by various factors.
Usually, the bigger number means the more powerful pump. For example, let’s take a look at MA343X and MA0460X series. While the first model offers the max pumping level of 50ft, the second model offers 147ft. Besides, while the MA0460X series has the GPM flow of 25.5, the other model has only 20.
Also, MA343X has ½ HP and works on 6.5 amps. On the other hand, MA0460X has 1HP and works on 12 amps, which is a significant difference. However, horsepower is not the most important factor when it comes to well pumps. Never choose a pump based on its horsepower!
The Horsepower Myth
It is well-known that today, many companies mark down the HP of their water pumps. With less horsepower, the pump consumes less electricity. On the other hand, you can’t make a mistake when it comes to amps. That’s why you should always consider amps over horsepower!
Moreover, it means that your old pump of ½ HP might actually be a 1 HP pump. It, therefore, means that it consumes a bit more electricity than you initially thought. If you wonder why your electricity bills were slightly higher, the pump might be the reason.
Pump Dimensions – another Essential Thing to Consider
When it comes to dimensions, there are a few things that we should talk about. At first, you’ve probably heard of the term “pumping water level”. It is the depth to the water while the well is being pumped.
For example, when it comes to jet pumps, it’s the distance between the pumping water level and the suction opening of the pump. For submersible pumps, it’s the vertical distance from the pumping water level to the point where the water is used.
When it comes to overall physical dimensions, it depends on the pump series. Let’s compare the same two models that we compared above. A model with a lower number, such as MA0343X-4A is around 13.74 x 15.59 x 25.83 inches. On the other hand, MA0459X-14A is a bit larger. It measures 21.26 x 17.05 x 36.89.
Now, it also depends on the type of the well you have. There are some minimum dimensions when it comes to the well diameter, too. For example, if you have a 2.5-inch well, you should install a classic jet pump, as long as the depth is less than 25 feet. If your water well is 4-inch or bigger, you should use a convertible jet pump or a submersible pump.
Which Model should I Choose?
All the models on this list are excellent. However, choosing the right one depends mainly on your needs. Let’s do a very quick review of which models should you choose.
If you want a pump that doesn’t consume much electricity but is powerful like stronger models, you should choose the first unit on the list. MA0414X-7A has 1HP, but practically, it works like much stronger pumps. That’s one of the reasons why you should neglect horsepower when looking for a well pump.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a lower price tag, MA0343X-4 is your best choice. It’s not expensive, but due to high-quality materials, it promises a long lifespan. Also, if you mainly aim for a long-time investment, but don’t need portability, you should choose MA0462CJ-10.
If you have a big well and need a mesmerizing flow rate, be sure to check out MA0419X-12A. It provides an awesome flow rate of 35 gallons per minute. On the other hand, you might be interested in MA0460X-9A. It doesn’t have any special features to offer, but it’s the best choice in terms of price and quality. It’s also quiet and doesn’t consume lots of electricity.
In the end, if you are looking for amazing efficiency, we advise you to check out MA0431X-18A. It has a 35 GPM flow rate, like MA0419X-12A, but it achieves that rate with only a little effort. In other words, the motor is powerful and won’t get over-encumbered easily. However, it does consume a bit more electricity.
Installation and Starting
Installing and starting the pump is not a difficult thing to do. However, it might be slightly confusing if you’ve never done it before. That’s why we have prepared this short guide to help you out.
Before you even start, there are a few security measures that you should take. At first, make sure that the pump’s voltage matches your electricity supply. Otherwise, you will lose the warranty. Also, most pumps are made for clean water, and pumping the sand will clog the pump. Running the pump without water is also never advised.
Of course, you should always wear gloves and eye-protection while assembling and make sure to protect the pump from freezing temperatures. In the end, don’t use the pump for swimming pools or pool areas.
Drilled Well Installation
At first, you should always check your pump and accessories for physical damage. Besides, the electric supply should have the proper voltage, grounding, and transformer size. Then, make sure that the well casing is perfectly smooth. If not, it could scrape the cable, which will cause the short circuit.
There are a few things that you should consider when choosing the pipe. At first, the pipe must be able to withstand the pump’s maximum pressure. A 1-inch pipe can be used for 5, 7, and 10 GPM units. For higher flow rates, use the 1-¼-inch pipe.
Installing the Pump with Polyethylene Pipe
At first, you need to install an adapter into the pump discharge opening. Make sure to hold the discharge head with a wrench, so that it doesn’t loosen from the pump housing. Then, install two 1-inch hose clamps over one end of the pipe and tighten them.
When done, heat the polyethylene pipe to soften it, and press it over the adapter. Tighten the clamps around the pipe over the adapter end, and lower the pump and pipe into the well. Secure the cable to the discharge pipe 5 feet from the top of the pump. You can do it using the electrical tape or snap wire ties.
Installing the Pump with Semi-Rigid Plastic Pipe
Wrap the thread of the pipe with Teflon tape. Then, you need to thread the first section of the pipe into the discharge opening. The same as with polyethylene pipe, you need to secure the wire cable 5 feet from the top of the pump using the electrical tape.
When putting the pump in place, pass the pipe and cable through the well seal. Of course, make sure that the well seal is properly vented. Cut the last section to the required length, and install a 1 or 1-¼-inch male connector over the end of the pipe. You can do it using a solvent, to properly weld the pieces together.
Wrap the 90-degree threads over the plastic elbow with Teflon tape, and thread the elbow into the male connector. Depending on the pump model, you might need additional clamps and fittings to make the necessary connections at the elbow, and maybe control center.
Installing the Control Center
At first, make sure to use the Teflon tape on all thread joints. Wrap the outside thread of the tank control center and thread into the tank opening. Install the pressure gauge with a ¾ x ¼-inch busing at the opening of the control center.
Connect the pipe from well and pump to the control center using the male plastic adapter and a clamp, in case of polyethylene pipe. If you use ABS or steel pipe, thread them directly into the control center.
Working with electricity is not advised if you are not a professional. However, if you still intend to do it, be sure to take all the necessary safety measures and properly follow the instructions.
Before you attempt to do any wiring, turn off the main power supply to the pump. Turn the pressure switch to the OFF position, which will disconnect the switch. Then, you need to remove the cover from the pressure switch by simply loosening the cover nut.
You will notice “LINE” terminals on the pressure switch. You need to connect the wires from the power supply to them, using no less than 14-gauge wire. Cut the wire cable to the proper length and connect the wires to “LOAD” terminals on the pressure switch. In the end, you need to replace the cover on the pressure switch and reset the lever to “AUTO”. Note that some switches don’t have that option, though.
Starting the Pump
If you’ve done everything properly, it’s time to start your well pump. Turn the circuit breaker to ON position and the pump should start to build pressure. In some cases, it might be necessary to hold the lever in the start position and wait until the right pressure is achieved.
How to Maintain Your Pump?
A nice thing about Hallmark Industries pumps is that they don’t require any special maintenance. If you install the well pump properly, you don’t have to worry about anything. However, you should still check the wiring and piping once a year.
Also, if your pump stops working, don’t return it immediately. The first thing to do is to check the troubleshooting section in your user manual. If that doesn’t help, you should call their support team. In the end, if nothing helps, return the pump.
Best Hallmark Industries Well Pumps: FAQs
Theoretically, you can, but it’s not advised. If the water level drops, or especially if there is no water in the well, your pump will burn out.
In most cases, if that happens, it means that your pressure tank has gone bad. You should fix or replace it right away.
It’s very simple. If there is a single pipe between a water source and a pump, you have a shallow well pump. On the other hand, if there are two pipes, your pump is for deep wells.
As you can notice, choosing the right water (well) pump might not be so simple. We listed the 6 best models of hallmark industries well pump by Hallmark Industries, but not every model will satisfy your needs.
Choose carefully, since buying the right pump can be an excellent long-term investment that will pay off in the future.
